Job Description:: Lower Elementary Montessori Lead Teacher
Rising Star Montessori Academy is accepting applications for a passionate and nurturing Lower Elementary Montessori Certified Lead Teacher to join our prestigious Montessori school located in Fayetteville, Georgia.
The right candidate will work closely with the Upper (Senior) Elementary Montessori Lead Teacher/Director and two (2) Assistants to provide our 1st through 3rd grade student base with a nurturing disposition and superior instruction in preparation to transition into the Senior Elementary classroom.
This is a full-time position, 10 months per year (June and July are off months), available to start on August 6, 2024. The right candidate will also work closely with our other highly trained staff to collectively deliver on our mission to develop a life-long love of learning in our students.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Reports to the Director/Upper Elementary Montessori Certified Lead; Preparing the environment: Plan and implement high-quality instruction for daily individual student lessons in alignment with the Montessori method and other school plans; Submit individual student lesson plans weekly for review and incorporate feedback into planning; Regularly observe students to inform instruction; Record daily observation notes and collect assessment data as needed; Prepare Montessori works and literacy materials and organize the classroom; Create and implement remediation plans using the Response to Intervention and Instruction model from observational, academic, and behavioral data; Teach children of diverse needs in an inclusive environment and mediate conflict between students; Foster habits of excellence, including order and grace & courtesy, through schoolwide and classroom-level practices and rituals, such as connecting before redirecting, using a warm and firm tone, matching children with works in the environment, tending the heart of virtue through presenting beautiful literature, and sharing responsibility for all our children; Be a model of character for students; Supervise students within the classroom and outside of the classroom: on the playground, at lunchtime and on field trips; Complete and report any symptoms of child abuse to supervisor and child abuse hotline (as a Mandated Reporter); Lead classroom family communication and meetings; and prepare progress reports / quarterly report cards to share what students are doing in class.
Professional Development and Relationships
Observe and provide feedback at least twice per term to peers/Montessori Teaching Assistant(s); Engage in staff/teacher meetings, team planning, professional development, and data reviews; Unwavering commitment to our mission and willingness to go above and beyond to meet the needs of our students, families, and staff; and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Hold an Elementary I or Elementary I-II Montessori credential from a MACTE-accredited institution OR have at least a Bachelor’s Degree PLUS 1 year of experience in a Montessori environment with a willingness to enroll in MACTE accredited training if candidate does not have Montessori credential (required); Willing to serve all children, regardless of background or needs, in an inclusive and supportive setting; Measures of success for position to include student academic growth, family satisfaction, observation feedback, performance evaluations, and related indicators; Provides direction to Montessori Teaching Assistants on a daily basis; Reliable transportation to and from campus; Assist with periodic school events outside of the normal schedule; Can complete physical demands of the role (including standing and walking for extended periods of time and lifting heavy objects up to 50 lbs.); Skills in instructional practices and classroom management for student achievement; Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; Work collaboratively with a growth mindset; Warm, approachable disposition, kind and firm demeanor; Prioritize safety of the children at all times; Excellent problem-solving skills; Willing to inspire and teach all children, regardless of background or individual needs, in an inclusive and supportive setting; Skills in instructional practices and classroom management for student achievement; Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; Work collaboratively with a growth mindset, and give and receive feedback in a spirit of craftsmanship; Strong learning orientation and desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment; Resolute commitment to our mission and willingness to go above and beyond to meet the needs of RSMA’s students, families, and staff; DECAL/KOALA background check required; and must be eager to foster relationships with families to enable open and responsive communication about student growth and needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Portable (approved) DECAL/KOALA background check results; and Current First Aid/CPR Certification.
