Assistant Montessori Teacher - Primary
Job Summary
Rising Star Montessori Academy is accepting applications for a passionate and nurturing Assistant Primary Teacher to join our prestigious Montessori school located in Fayetteville, Georgia.
The right candidate will work closely with one Montessori Certified Lead to provide our 3-year-old to 6-year-old student base with a nurturing disposition, superior basic care as well as a solid foundation of learned knowledge in a calming environment.
The right candidate will also be responsible for implementing classroom activities either in the absence of a Teacher or on a daily basis, in place of a teacher, as needed. They will aid in the implementation of the daily schedule and routine, leading activities, developing nurturing relationships, and ensuring the safety, security, and supervision of the children.
This is a full-time position, 10 months per year (June and July are off months), available to start on August 6, 2024. The right candidate will also work closely with our other highly trained staff to collectively deliver on our mission to develop a life-long love of learning in our students.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Encourage self-expression through understanding, flexibility, and behavioral reinforcement; Assist in fostering independence across all Primary aged children; Assist with periodic school events outside of the normal schedule; Complete continuing education credits through Bright from the Start approved resources as required (10 hours per calendar year, 10 hours of Health & Safety courses are required within 90 days of employment); Helping to prepare the environment: Implement high-quality instruction for daily individual student lessons as directed by the Primary Lead in alignment with the Montessori method and other school plans; Always maintain required adult-child ratios in each respective classroom; Maintain constant supervision of children (remain within sight and sound of children at all times); Mediate conflict between students; Model appropriate behaviors, even when not on duty; Ensure that the classroom remains safe and conducive to learning at all times; Assist with functioning and monitoring of nutrition (following BFTS guidelines); Complete and report any symptoms of child abuse to supervisor and child abuse hotline (as a Mandated Reporter); Attend staff meetings.

The ideal candidate must have the following:
One or more years assistant teaching in a Montessori environment preferred, at least one (1) year of prior experience working with young children required; High School Diploma or equivalent; Reliable transportation to and from campus; Can complete physical demands of the role (including standing and walking for extended periods of time and lifting heavy objects up to 50 lbs.); Warm, approachable disposition, kind and firm demeanor; Prioritize safety of the children at all times; Excellent problem-solving skills; Willing to inspire and teach all children, regardless of background or individual needs, in an inclusive and supportive setting; Skills in instructional practices and classroom management for student achievement; Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; Work collaboratively with a growth mindset, and give and receive feedback in a spirit of craftsmanship; Strong learning orientation and desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment; Resolute commitment to our mission and willingness to go above and beyond to meet the needs of RSMA’s students, families, and staff; and clear DECAL/KOALA background check results required.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
Possesses minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (or related field), CDA, or equivalent 2 years of job experience; Portable (approved) DECAL/KOALA background check results; Current First Aid/CPR Certification; and Knowledgeable about Montessori philosophy and materials; and Knowledge of Montessori curriculum content and children’s developmental needs.
